Surveillance Video
How to choose power apdater for Surveillance Video
When we are developing new surveillance camera, choosing an appropriate power adapter is crucial to ensuring a stable power supply. We will elaborate on this selection process from the perspectives of electrical specifications, physical output interfaces, and international safety certification requirements.
Electronic Specification
1. Input Voltage
Universal range: AC 100V – 240V (50/60Hz). This wide-voltage is compatible with power grid standards across all of the world.
2. Output Voltage
2-1. DC 12V
The output voltage is permitted to fluctuate within ±5% of the nominal value (11.4V – 12.6V).
2-2. DC 5V
Be used for certain small, wireless home surveillance cameras.
3. Output Power
Common output power specifications including 10W, 12W, 24W, and 36W. Small or dome-style surveillance cameras require 10W or 12W typically , while cameras equipped with high-power infrared (IR) night-vision illuminator or motorized pan-tilt mechanisms require 24W or 36W generally.
4. Output Connector
4-1. DC Plug
The common type is the 5.5 × 2.1mm or 5.5 × 2.5mm and other sizes
4-2. Customized Plug
We can also design the special dc plug to meet customer’s requirement.
Safety Certification
As devices that convert high-voltage mains power to low-voltage DC, power adapters must comply with electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards
1. EMC
The power adapter must comply with internationally recognized EMC standards, such as EN 55032 or FCC regulations, to prevent the power supply from causing electromagnetic interference that could affect the video signals of the surveillance system.
2. International Safety Certification
2-1. CE (EU Safety and EMC Certification)
2-2. FCC (US Federal Communications Commission Certification)
2-3. UL / ETL (North American Safety Certification)
2-4. RoHS/REACH
Energy Efficiency Standard
Compliance with Level VI energy efficiency standards is typically required to ensure low power consumption and high conversion efficiency.
Others
Of course, you also need to consider whether your product will be used indoors or outdoors, and ultimately take into account the IP rating.
You should also to consider the working temperature when the product will be used indoor or outdoor enviroment.
